Description
Tenof EM for PrEP (generic version of Truvada)
Tenof EM is available in tablet form for oral administration. Each tablet contains a fixed-dose combination of two active ingredients:
- Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF): This is an antiretroviral medication belonging to the class of nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitors. TDF works by inhibiting the reverse transcriptase enzyme, which is necessary for the replication of the HIV virus.
- Emtricitabine (FTC): Emtricitabine is another antiretroviral drug, classified as a nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor. It also inhibits the reverse transcriptase enzyme, further preventing HIV replication.
These two drugs work together to combat the HIV virus and reduce its ability to replicate in the body, thereby suppressing the viral load and helping to slow down the progression of the infection or prevent it in those at high risk when used as PrEP.
Each bottle contains 30 pills.
